Flexible OLED: Roll Up Your Mobile devices and carry them in your pocket
Portable devices seen in movies, such as paper-thin flexible mobile phones and rolls of plastic film which can be transformed into televisions, may not exist only in the realm of sceience fiction in the future. Associate Professor Mei-ying Chang and Professor Wen-yao Huang of the Department of Photonics invented three materials that are critical in developing flexible organic light-emitting diode components. The three meterials comprise flexible universal planes for display and electronic applications; flexible, transparent, conducting thin films; and deep-blue polymer light-emitting meterials. This development may enhance the portability of photoelectric devices such as televisions and mobile phones.
